We all love food!
Let me just say, what I mean is that I love Italian food! ALL OF IT! Something about Italian food makes me feel like I am being wrapped in an Italian Grandmother’s arms. I’m a constant student of Pasta dishes, finding some of the best teachers on Social Media. What I have also discovered is that, with my love of pasta, comes my very particular taste for fresh pasta.
Several stores including Rouse’s and Trader Joe’s have pasta imported from Italy. Yes, it costs a little more, but to know that is doesn’t have the same preservatives is worth it to me. My favorite brands are De Cecco and DeLallo.
Another thing that I have truly enjoyed learning is how to make my own sauces. The Pasta Queen on Instagram is an amazing teacher, but it is truly simple, taste fresher and there is a pride that comes with making your own.
Here is one of my favorite pasta dishes that is just so easy to make, anyone can do it:
Beef Bolognese:
Ingredients
1 lb of ground beef
1 lb of italian sausage
5 fresh carrots
4 stalks of celery
1 onion
1 tube of tomato paste
2 cans peeled tomatoes
Basil
Parsley
Red Wine
Garlic
Olive Oil
1 stick of salted butter
oregano
Red pepper flakes
salt and pepper
Start by sauteeing your vegetables in olive oil. Add garlic, but don’t let this burn. Once clear, add 1/2 tube of tomato paste and stir. Once it is blended, deglaze with red wine. Let it sautee on low. Add ground beef and italian sausage and brown them. Remove the peeled tomatoes form the can into a bowl. Use your hand and knead until they are sauce. Add them to the mixture. Add seasonings to taste and let simmer for an hour or more on low.
Add Pappardelle to a large boiling pot of salted water, cook for 8 minutes. Reserve a cup of the salted pasta water and add it to the sauce. Strain pasta and mix it into the sauce. Serve with fresh parmesan cheese and burrata!
Invite plenty of friends because this makes alot of food. Service with Chianti and cheers to a delicious meal!
